Novelab worked with Wonderland Engine, a young and ambitious German startup founded by a team of experienced game developers and engineers. The company is focused on making high-performance 3D and XR applications accessible directly through the web, combining cutting-edge rendering technology with streamlined workflows. Their goal was simple: let teams create complex projects and run them instantly in a browser. Wonderland Engine faced a clear problem. They had a powerful engine, but no concrete project to show it in action. They needed a flagship experience that proved the engine could handle a full, playable 3D application with smooth performance and efficient workflows.
Their challenge was not engineering capacity, but positioning.
The team is specialized in rendering and engine development, and their priority is advancing that technology.
For this initiative, they needed strong UX and interaction design, art direction, and a coherent experience that would make the project meaningful and credible for external audiences. The objective was to create a reference application that would validate the platform and support its adoption.
Novelab joined as a co-creator to shape that experience. Starting from strategic goals rather than a fixed brief, the teams defined the vision together. Novelab focused on UX and interaction design, structured the user journey, and proposed several creative directions to explore how best to meet the objectives. This collaborative process pushed both sides: creative ambition challenged technical assumptions, while technical progress enabled new interaction possibilities. The outcome was a structured and polished experience aligned with Wonderland Engine’s goals.
The project delivered a tangible reference that moved the platform from production-ready to production-proven. It demonstrated the ability to support complex interactive applications, strengthened credibility with clients and developers, and provided a blueprint that could later be shared with the community. It also gave Wonderland Engine a clear example to support positioning in a competitive engine landscape. For technology companies entering the market, this case highlights a recurring need. Building a product is not enough to secure adoption. Turning technology into an experience that communicates value requires the right collaboration.
